- This data item focuses on false alarms due to apparatus, the call was initiated by fire alarm and firefighting equipment operating (including accidental initiation of alarm apparatus by person). False alarms are events in which the fire and rescue service believes they are called to a reportable fire and then find there is no such incident. Alarm Calls Not attended are where a decision is made by fire control staff that a reported incident is not genuine, and that attendance is unnecessary.
