- This is the crude rate of abortions in age 25 years and over per 1,000 female population aged 25-44 years. It is sourced from Department of Health based on data from abortion clinics and uses the ONS mid-year population estimates, for the number of women aged 25-44 living in the area.
Rates of abortions are increasing amongst the older age groups and abortions amongst the over 25s account for an increasingly large proportion of women having terminations. This indicator will help local authorities look at the needs of the whole of their population, and not just young people.
