Did you know we have a dedicated powers and duties tool?
Available to LG Inform Plus subscribers, it provides information on what current legislation gives English and Welsh councils the power to do and what it requires them to do in law. Advanced searching and filtering options make it easy to find specific powers and duties based on legislation, business function and keyword, and results are easily exported in commonly used formats.

Pupils per teacher: State-funded special schools (14799) Metric type
- Help text
- The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) pupils per FTE teachers in state-funded special schools.
These results are inclusive of all state-funded special schools including academies and pupil referral units.
This includes all full and part-time teachers, qualified and unqualified, classroom and school leadership group teachers (Head teachers, Deputy and Assistant Head teachers).
The number of FTE teachers is calculated by converting part-time staff’s hours into a full-time staff equivalent. For example, if a standard full-time working week was 37 hours and a part-time teacher works 18.5 hours, their FTE would be 0.5.
Only pupils who did not attend both morning and afternoon sessions are regarded as part-time. All part-time pupils are given an FTE of 0.5.
Full time headcount + part time FTE = total FTE teachers/pupils.
