Pupils per teacher: LA maintained secondary schools (14793) Metric type
- Help text
- The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) pupils per FTE teachers in LA maintained secondary schools.
These results only include secondary schools funded and controlled by the local education authority. Any centrally employed teachers working in LA maintained secondary schools are included in these figures as are the teachers of any LA maintained middle schools deemed secondary schools. All through schools are deemed secondary and are included in these figures.
This includes all full and part-time teachers, qualified and unqualified, classroom and school leadership group teachers (Head teachers, Deputy and Assistant Head teachers).
The number of FTE teachers is calculated by converting part-time staff’s hours into a full-time staff equivalent. For example, if a standard full-time working week was 37 hours and a part-time teacher works 18.5 hours, their FTE would be 0.5
Only pupils who did not attend both morning and afternoon sessions are regarded as part-time. All part-time pupils are given an FTE of 0.5.
Full time headcount + part time FTE = total FTE teachers/pupils.
