Pupils per qualified teacher: LA maintained nursery and primary schools (14783) Metric type
- Help text
- The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) pupils per FTE qualified teachers in LA maintained nursery and primary schools.
These results only include nursery and primary schools funded and controlled by the local education authority. Any centrally employed teachers working in LA maintained nursery and primary schools are also included in these figures as are the teachers of LA maintained middle schools deemed primary schools.
Qualified teachers are defined as those with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This includes classroom and school leadership group teachers (Head teachers, Deputy and Assistant Head teachers)
The number of FTE qualified teachers is calculated by converting part-time staff’s hours into a full-time staff equivalent. For example, if a standard full-time working week was 37 hours and a part-time qualified teacher works 18.5 hours, their FTE would be 0.5
Only pupils who did not attend both morning and afternoon sessions are regarded as part-time. All part-time pupils are given an FTE of 0.5.
Full time headcount + part time FTE = total FTE qualified teachers/pupils.
