Pupils per Adult: State-funded nursery and primary schools (14782) Metric type
- Help text
- The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) pupils per FTE adults employed by state-funded nursery and primary schools.
These results are inclusive of all state-funded nursery and primary schools including academies, converter academies and sponsor led academies, free schools, special schools and pupil referral units for primary school aged pupils. Any centrally employed adults working in state-funded nursery and primary schools are also included in these figures as are the employees of middle schools deemed primary schools.
This includes all full and part-time teachers, qualified and unqualified, classroom and school leadership group teachers (Head teachers, Deputy and Assistant Head teachers) as well as support staff. Administrative, clerical and auxiliary staff are excluded from these results.
The number of FTE adults working in schools is calculated by converting part-time staff’s hours into a full-time staff equivalent. For example, if a standard full-time working week was 37 hours and a part-time member of staff works 18.5 hours, their FTE would be 0.5
Only pupils who did not attend both morning and afternoon sessions are regarded as part-time. All part-time pupils are given an FTE of 0.5.
Full time headcount + part time FTE = total FTE staff/pupils.
