Total number of teachers (FTE): Special academies/alternative provision (14762) Metric type
- Help text
- Total number of teachers employed by special academies presented as the number of full-time equivalent positions (FTE). This includes all full and part-time teachers, qualified and unqualified, classroom and school leadership group teachers (Head teachers, Deputy and Assistant Head teachers).
FTE results are calculated by converting part-time staff’s hours into a full-time staff equivalent. For example, if a standard full-time working week was 37 hours and a part-time teacher works 18.5 hours, their FTE would be 0.5.
Full time headcount + part time FTE = total FTE teachers. This provides a better indication of total labour input than a simple headcount.
