TA headcount of all people employed by state-funded special schools/pupil referral units. This includes teachers, teaching assistants, support staff, technicians and auxiliary staff.

These results are inclusive of all state-funded secondary schools including academies, converter academies and sponsor led academies, free schools, special schools and pupil referral units for secondary school aged pupils, as well as technical colleges and studio schools. Any centrally employed school staff working in state-funded secondary schools are also included in these figure as are the employees of any middle schools deemed secondary schools. All through schools are deemed secondary and are included in these figures.

Headcount figures are based on the number of employees with an employment contract.
