- Total number of classroom teachers employed by secondary academies, inclusive of converter academies, sponsor led academies and free schools. This includes all full and part-time, qualified and unqualified, classroom teachers.
FTE results are calculated by converting part-time staff’s hours into a full-time staff equivalent. For example, if a standard full-time working week was 37 hours and a part-time classroom teacher works 18.5 hours, their FTE would be 0.5.
Full time headcount + part time FTE = total FTE classroom teachers. This provides a better indication of total labour input than a simple headcount.
