Did you know we have a dedicated powers and duties tool?
Available to LG Inform Plus subscribers, it provides information on what current legislation gives English and Welsh councils the power to do and what it requires them to do in law. Advanced searching and filtering options make it easy to find specific powers and duties based on legislation, business function and keyword, and results are easily exported in commonly used formats.

Full-time Equivalent (FTE) workforce: LA maintained secondary schools (14726) Metric type
- Help text
- Total number of employees within LA maintained primary schools presented as the number of full-time equivalent positions (FTE). This includes teachers, teaching assistants, support staff, technicians and auxiliary staff.
These results only include secondary schools funded and controlled by the local education authority. Any centrally employed school staff working in LA maintained secondary schools are included in these figures as are the employees of any LA maintained middle schools deemed secondary schools. All through schools are deemed secondary and are included in these figures
FTE results are calculated by converting part-time staff’s hours into a full-time staff equivalent. For example, if a standard full-time working week was 37 hours and a part-time member of staff works 18.5 hours, their FTE would be 0.5.
Full time headcount + part time FTE = total FTE Staff. This provides a better indication of total labour input than a simple headcount.
