- The total number of fatalities in accidental primary fires in the quarter. Primary fires include all fires in buildings, vehicles and outdoor structures or any fire involving casualties, rescues, or fires attended by five or more appliances.
A fatality is a person whose death is attributed to fire and includes deaths where cause of death is unknown but occurred during or following a fire.
Accidental include fires where the cause was not known or unspecified; exclude fires where the cause was malicious, deliberate.
