Help text
This is the percentage of pupils in state funded secondary schools with no identified Special Educational Needs (SEN), achieving 5 or more A* to C GCSEs (incl. English & mathematics). This is based on pupils at the end of Key Stage 4 in the academic year reported, in all state funded secondary schools, which includes academies and city technology colleges. The SEN variable indicates whether a pupil has learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for them to learn than most children of the same age.

PRE 2013/14 DATA IS NOT COMPARABLE DUE TO CHANGES TO THE PRODUCTION OF THESE STATISTICS FOR THIS PERIOD

Two major reforms have been implemented which affect the calculation of Key Stage 4 (KS4) performance measures data: 1. Professor Alison Wolf's Review of Vocational Education recommendations which: restrict the qualifications counted; prevent any qualification from counting as larger than one GCSE; and cap the number of non-GCSEs included in performance measures at two per pupil. 2. An early entry policy to only count a pupil's first attempt at a qualification. Comparisons between 2013/14 and earlier years should not be made before reading sections 2 and 3 of the statistical first release:
