- This is the estimated diagnosis rate of dementia in people aged 65 and over. This compares the known number of dementia diagnoses with the estimated true prevalance for people aged 65 and over in an area. The result is a percentage of people who have a formal diagnosis out of the total estimated cohort of people in the area thought to be living with dementia.
