The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) looks at complaints about councils and investigates them in a fair and independent way where they find fault in the way an organisation carries out its duties the Ombudsman makes recommendations about what the organisation should do to put things right. This is the number of decisions on complaints remedied by the LGO that is the number of cases which required direct intervention by the Ombudsman to put things right for the person who was affected. Caution should be used when comparing across organisations as they can be greatly influenced by a number of factors such as the size of the population served by the organisation.
