- This is the number of referrals completed by children's social care services in the year ending 31 March. If a child has more than one referral in the financial year then each referral will be counted. Includes a small number of referrals where the referral source was missing. The total figures for England and regional totals include estimates for missing data and are rounded to the nearest 10. Sub totals may not add up to the England total and regional totals due to rounding. Taken from Characteristics of Children in need, table C5.
