Energy Efficiency of Local Authority owned stock: Installation of insulation - cavity walls (8654) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the number of dwellings owned by your local authority where there has been installation of insulation via insulation of cavity walls, in the reporting year. Cavity walls are made of two layers with a small gap or ‘cavity’ between them. This cavity acts as a barrier to reduce heat flow through the wall. Insulation of cavity walls fills the gap between the inner and outer layers of external walls with an insulating material, reducing heat loss.
This refers to dwellings owned by the local authority, whether they are located within the local authority area or not.
Where works are to common parts, public and private open areas, or in the case of blocks of flats, to the structure, roofs or other shared elements, it is the total number of dwellings among which the costs of works is to be apportioned. In the case of dwellings that have been sold, only a proportion of the dwellings to reflect the council’s remaining net financial responsibility, if any that are counted.
