Part of the local government finance settlement in England. The annual local government finance settlement is concerned with the distribution of revenue raised from business rates, through business rates retention, and the distribution of Revenue Support Grant. The settlement provides local authorities with information on how much Revenue Support Grant they have been allocated for the next financial year. It may also provide illustrative information on allocations for the year or years following the next financial year.

Spending power is a way of calculating the money available for councils to provide local services. It includes funding from central government through the settlement, as well as income through fees and charges they raise, local council tax, grants, NHS funding to support social care and resources for public health, and business

rates.

Revenue spending power is the sum of all metrics within the Spending Power collection and includes Efficiency Support Grant.
