Total income (median) per taxpayer in an area (3773) Metric type
- Help text
- This metric shows the median income from all sources per taxpayer in an area. Income sources include income from self-employment source, employment sources (including all pay from employment, from taxable benefits and from unemployment benefit, income support or Jobseeker's Allowance) and pension sources. Median values are the mid-point of all incomes in an area and are a truer reflection of income in an area. The data is sourced from HRMC's Survey of Personal Incomes (SPI) which is a sample survey of individual liable to income tax. As with any sample survey estimates provided are subsject to sampling error, for areas with a population of 2.5 million or more the sampling error is low at +/- 1% rising to +/- 4% with populations of 200,000, therefore caution should be used when viewing data for small areas.
