Employment income (mean) per taxpayer in an area (3766) Metric type
- Help text
- This metric shows the mean income received from employment income. Employment income includes all pay from employment, from taxable benefits and from unemployment benefit, income support or Jobseeker's Allowance. Mean values are the average of all incomes in an area and can be heavily influenced by a few very high/low values and therefore when considering income the median value is often a better measure. The data is sourced from HRMC's Survey of Personal Incomes (SPI) which is a sample survey of individual liable to income tax. As with any sample survey estimates provided are subsject to sampling error, for areas with a population of 2.5 million or more the sampling error is low at +/- 1% rising to +/- 4% with populations of 200,000, therefore caution should be used when viewing data for small areas.
