Ratio of dental surgeries per 10,000 population (3705) Metric type
- Help text
- This indicator is a crude rate of dental surgeries per 10,000 population in a local authority. It was derived by the LGA to give a sense of health service provision in each authority and was sourced from the Health and Social Care Information Centre's Organisation Data Service publication General Dental Practices in England, Wales and IoM (http://tinyurl.com/qct4t2x). This list provides address details of all dental practices in England and postcodes were matched to a local authority using the ONS National Statistics Postcode Lookup (NSPL) (https://geoportal.statistics.gov.uk), providing an estimate of the number of dental practices within each local authority. To calculate the crude ratio of dental surgeries in each authority per 10,000 population, the number of practices in each authority was multiplied by 10,000 and then divided by the ONS population count for the authority.
