Percentage of council seats held by Liberal Democrats (3389) Metric type
- Help text
- This metric is the percentage of seats held by Liberal Democrat candidates following the main round of local council elections. It is calculated based on the total number of Liberal Democrat held seats divided by the total number seats on the council expressed as a percentage. The metric is a snapshot immediately following the main round of local elections and does not take account of any subsequent by-election changes nor those resulting from elected councillors switching party allegiance.
Structural changes to local government areas and ward changes in order electoral equality is achieved where every councillor represents roughly the same number of electors, may result in the seats held by a party changing, even when the percentage vote share by that party is constant.
