- This is the total number of caravans, houseboats and mobile homes in the area at 31 March, for Council Tax Band E.
The Valuation Office Agency for England and Wales (VOA) places each property into a valuation band; there are eight bands for properties in England and nine bands for properties in Wales. The valuation band is assigned to a property on the basis of its market value at 1 April 1991 for England and 1 April 2003 for Wales; this band then determines the amount of Council Tax to be paid. Band E are properties between the value of £88,000-£120,000 in England and £123,000-£162,000 in Wales.
New properties are assigned a band based on what their value would have been on either 1 April 1991 (properties in England) or 1 April 2003 (properties in Wales). New properties assessments are based on the property's size, layout, character, location, change in use (if applicable) and comparison to the value of same types of properties in the area. Revisons are made each year resulting from challenges against bands and other reviews. These changes may mean the source totals differ to the history output here.
A property is defined as a separate unit of living accommodation, together with any garden, yard, garage or other outbuildings attached to it, all occupied by the same person(s) and within the same area of land.
All counts are rounded to the nearest 10, with counts between 1 and 4 suppressed and shown as 0. Some properties could not be matched on postcode by the VOA using the ONS National Statistics Postcode Lookup (NSPL) and will not appear in the area totals.
