Delayed transfer of care beds attributable jointly to the NHS and social care in excess of expectations (12315) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the average daily number of daily delayed transfer of care (DTOC) beds jointly attributable to both the NHS and local authority adult social care services in excess of the targeted average daily expectation. As such, a positive score means that the DTOC beds attributable to social care in the area exceeds the target, and a negative score means that the number of DTOC beds thus attributable is within the target. This is not a total figure but rather includes only those DTOC beds which are themselves jointly attributable to both the NHS and adult social care. This measure cannot be used to compare between authorities as it does not account for the population of each authority.
These expectations come from the Better Care Fund Planning data aggregation issued annually by NHS Digital. This data is an aggregation of Better Care Fund plan data submitted on the planning template by Health and Wellbeing Boards (HWBs) as part of the two year BCF planning cycle. Please note that where possible all data for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and Bournemouth and Poole has been combined to form Cornwall & Scilly HWB and Bournemouth & Poole HWB respectively.
