- This is the number of applications for prior approval for permitted development commercial, business and service to residential where the local authority determined that prior approval was not required.
With effect from 1 October 2021, 'Commercial, business and service to residentiall' replaces 'From light industrial to residential'. In turn from 1 December 2019, 'From light industrial to residential' replaces 'From storage or distribution centres or light industrial to residential' following the ending for the time-limited permitted development right for 'storage or distribution centres to residential' with effect from 10 June 2019. This, in turn, had been introduced with effect from 1 October 2017, replacing 'From storage or distribution centres to residential', which in turn had been introduced on 1 October 2016, replacing 'Agricultural buildings to flexible uses', for which figures were collected and had been published for previous quarters from 1 April 2014.
Applications where prior approval is not required include:
- any applications where the local planning authority has provided written notice of their determination that prior approval is not required;
- any householder applications under Part 1 of Schedule 2, Paragraph A.4 of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015, where no objections have been received by an owner or occupier of any adjoining premises and prior approval is not therefore required;
- any applications granted implicitly, as a result of the local planning authority taking no action.
