Did you know we have a dedicated powers and duties tool?
Available to LG Inform Plus subscribers, it provides information on what current legislation gives English and Welsh councils the power to do and what it requires them to do in law. Advanced searching and filtering options make it easy to find specific powers and duties based on legislation, business function and keyword, and results are easily exported in commonly used formats.

Subsidy control - inclusion of information in subsidy database Duty
- Description
- A local authority must ensure that an entry in the subsidy database is made in respect of
(a) a subsidy given by the authority, and
(b) a subsidy scheme made by the authority.
The above does not apply to a subsidy if
(a) it is given under a subsidy scheme,
(b) an entry is made in the subsidy database in respect of the scheme, and
(c) the amount of the subsidy is no more than £100,000.
When doing so the local authority must comply with specified time limits and with any Regulations made by the Secretary of State supplementing or modifying the above.
