- The data shows the resident population living in rural settlements as at Census day. It is important to note that the categorisation is not describing the physical character or landscape, but the extent to which the resident population live in urban or rural and rural-related settlement. This metric is derived from the lower level classification (Output Areas (OAs); Super Output Areas (SOAs) and wards) to arrive at the higher level designation.
