- This is the percentage point gap between pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) achieving the expected level in Key Stage 2 (or Key Stage 4) and those who are not eligible for FSM. Pupils who's parents receive the following are entitled to Free School Meals:-Income Support (IS)Income Based Job Seekers AllowanceSupport under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999Child Tax Credit - provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income not exceeding £14,495, orThe Guaranteed Pension Credit.

This is the percentage point gap between pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) achieving level 4 or above, including English and maths, at Key Stage 2 and those who are not eligible for FSM achieving the same level. In England, children are eligible to receive free school meals (FSM) if their parents are in receipt of any of the following benefits: Income Support; Income-based Job Seekers Allowance; Income-related Employment and Support Allowance; Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999; the Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit; or Child Tax Credit, provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and with a gross income below £16,190.
