Did you know we have a dedicated powers and duties tool?
Available to LG Inform Plus subscribers, it provides information on what current legislation gives English and Welsh councils the power to do and what it requires them to do in law. Advanced searching and filtering options make it easy to find specific powers and duties based on legislation, business function and keyword, and results are easily exported in commonly used formats.

Lettings to existing social tenants: Total (8610) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the total number of dwellings let to existing social tenants.
Included here are the number of dwellings from the local authority stock let on a secure, introductory or flexible tenancy (i.e. exclude all lettings of dwellings let on a non-secure tenancy other than an introductory tenancy) to an existing social tenant. This includes lettings of dwellings that are located outside the local authority district.
An existing social tenant is one which immediately before the current let had a secure, assured, flexible, fixed term, introductory, starter, demoted or family intervention tenancy (this list includes terms which are used inter-changeable for the same tenancy type). It excludes those who succeed to or to whom a tenancy is assigned as they should be reported as new tenants.
