IMD - Income Deprivation - average rank (8354) Metric type
- Help text
- The domain measures the proportion of the population experiencing deprivation relating to low income. The definition of low income used includes both those people who are out-of-work, and those who are in work but who have low earnings (and who satisfy the respective means test). The domain has two sub-sets: IDACI (children) and IDAOPI (older people).
Average rank is a local authority level measure which represents the population weighted average of the ranks of LSOAs in the area. The more deprived is an area, the higher the IMD score but the lower the rank. Further detail on the Index of multiple deprivation (IMD) can be found at the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/english-indices-of-deprivation
