NHS Health Checks: Percentage of people that received an NHS Health Check of those offered (quarterly) (8227) Metric type
- Help text
- NHS Health Checks: Percentage of people that received an NHS Health Check of those offered (quarterly) is taken from the NHS Health Check website. This is the proportion of appointments received as a percentage of appointments offered within the quarter. The NHS Health Check programme aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. Everyone between the ages of 40 and 74, who has not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions, will be invited (once every five years) to have a check to assess, raise awareness and support them to manage their risk of cardiovascular disease. A high take up of NHS Health Check is important to identify early signs of poor health leading to opportunities for early interventions. Local authorities have a legal duty to make arrangements to provide the NHS Health Check programme to 100% of the eligible population over a five year period and to achieve continuous improvement in uptake. This data demonstrates the cumulative progress made by local authorities in offering NHS Health Checks.
