- This indicator is collected through the Local Government Sickness Absence Levels and Causes Survey and records long-term sickness absence as a percentage of overall sickness absence.
Long-term absence - over 20 days/more than one calendar month (in working days).
The results are based on a biennial online survey on behalf of Local Government Employers (LGE). This survey covered sickness absence in local authorities in England and Wales. All Heads of Human Resources (or equivalent position) in local authorities in England and Wales were asked to complete the online survey throughout July - September 2009. The data does include teachers.
