Formula - Short term sickness Absence (FTE days per employee) is calculated by taking the total number of days absence (short term) over financial year and divinding by the average number of FTE over the financial yearDefinition - Short term absence: up to and including 20days/one calendar month (in working days). The sickness absence calculation should include all staff (including school based support staff), but exclude teachers and all staff in fire services. It should be calculated for the financial year (beginning on the 1 April and ending on the 31 March).

This indicator is collected through the Local Government Workforce Survey. The question is: 'Please complete the following table and provide the short term sickness absence rate for the current financial year?'
