The total number of non-fatal casualties (exc. precautionary checks and first aid) in accidental primary fires in the quarter. Primary fires include all fires in buildings, vehicles and outdoor structures or any fire involving casualties, rescues, or fires attended by five or more appliances.

Non-fatal casualties consist of persons requiring medical treatment beyond first aid given at the scene of the fire, and those sent to hospital or advised to see a doctor for a check-up or observation (whether or not they actually do). People sent to hospital or advised to see a doctor as a precaution, having no obvious injury, are recorded as "precautionary check-ups".

Accidental include fires where the cause was not known or unspecified; exclude fires where the cause was malicious, deliberate.
