Number of out-of-work benefit claimant households (5585) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the number of households where one or more persons claimed one or more of the following out-of-work benefits: Jobseeker?s Allowance, Income Support, Employment and Support Allowance, Incapacity
Benefit/Severe Disablement Allowance or Pension Credit at 31st May each year. There is a considerable overlap in the breakdown by benefit type, as for example, a claimant of Income Support may also be claiming Incapacity Benefit but households are only counted once irrespective of the combination of benefits.
These statistics have been derived from DWP out-of-work benefit data.
Data are rounded to the nearest ten for larger geographical areas. For smaller geographies such as Ward and Lower Layer Super Output Area, figures are independently rounded to five. Totals may not sum due to rounding.
