- The overall IMD describes each lower super output area (LSOA) by combining information from all seven Domains: Income Deprivation, Employment Deprivation, Health Deprivation and Disability, Education Skills and Training Deprivation, Barriers to Housing and Services, Living Environment Deprivation, and Crime. In this case 'district' refers to all authority types other than county councils. The LSOA with a rank of 1 is the most deprived. LSOAs are small fixed geographic areas encompassing a population of approximately 1,000 people.
