- This Index of multiple deprivation (IMD) domain measures employment deprivation conceptualised as involuntary exclusion of the working-age population from work. The underlying indicators are summed and expressed as a rate of the relevant population (the whole population aged 18–59 plus men aged 60–64). The higher the score the more deprived an area is.
