- This indicator is count of dental surgeries in a local authority area. It was derived by the LGA to give a sense of health service provision in each authority and was sourced from the Health and Social Care Information Centre's Organisation Data Service publication General Dental Practices in England, Wales and IoM (http://tinyurl.com/qct4t2x). This list provides address details of all dental practices in England and postcodes were matched to a local authority using the ONS National Statistics Postcode Lookup (NSPL) (https://geoportal.statistics.gov.uk) file, providing an estimate of the number of dental practices within each local authority.
