Cumulative percentage of the eligible population aged 40-74 offered an NHS Health Check (3700) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the cumulative percentage of the eligible population aged 40-74 offered an NHS Health Check during the five year period 2013/14-2017/18. The number of people aged 40-74 eligible for an NHS Health Check who were offered an NHS Health Check in the five year period is divided by the number of people aged 40-74 eligible for an NHS Health Check in the five year period and multiplied by 100. Data was sourced from the Public Health England Public Health Outcomes Framework, produced by Public Health England Knowledge and Intelligence Team (South East). The NHS Health Check programme aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. Everyone between the ages of 40 and 74, who has not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions, will be invited (once every five years) to have a check to assess, raise awareness and support them to manage their risk of cardiovascular disease. A high take up of NHS Health Check is important to identify early signs of poor health leading to opportunities for early interventions. Local authorities have a legal duty to make arrangements to provide the NHS Health Check programme to 100% of the eligible population over a five year period and to achieve continuous improvement in uptake. This data demonstrates the cumulative progress made by local authorities in offering NHS Health Checks.
