- This data was collected as part of a voluntary in-year data benchmarking exercise. It shows the year to date position at the end of quarter two of the financial year.
It includes carers receiving information, advice and other universal services/signposting.
To view a user friendly display of this and other in-year adult social care data please visit: http://lginform.local.gov.uk/reports/view/lga-research/teasc-in-year-benchmarking-201415. This report also includes important information about how these results should be interpreted.
The provisional in-year nature of this data and the fact that it has not undergone full validation means it is most suitable as a timely 'discussion starter’ for councils rather than a definitive picture of the performance of the sector or an individual council. Users looking for a definitive view of sector performance should refer to the published annual data.
Changes in definition mean that 2014/15 data cannot be compared to data from 2013/14 and earlier.
To see the full metadata including details of the numerator and denominator please see: http://tinyurl.com/n6wjxbv
Note that the denominator will include some carers caring for people aged under 18, however this measure is still the best available national indicator of the extent of carers in a given area.
This data is currently only available to local authority users of LG Inform. Prior to public access being granted, please do not disclose named local authority level results more widely when you are reporting, unless with clear written consent from the data owner, or unless it has already been made publicly available by the authority in question, for example on their own website. You can of course use anonymised results.
