- This metric is the total number of Conservative seats held following the main round of local council elections. The metric is a snapshot immediately following the main round of local elections and does not take account of any subsequent by-election changes nor those resulting from elected councillors switching party allegiance.
Structural changes to local government areas and ward changes in order electoral equality is achieved where every councillor represents roughly the same number of electors, may result in the seats held by a party changing, even when the percentage vote share by that party is constant.
