- This is the average monthly claimants of jobseekers allowance who have been claiming for more than 12 months expressed as a rate per 1,000 of the working age population.
There is strong eveidence to suggest that work is generally good for physical and mental health and wellbeing, taking into account the nature and quality of the work and its social context, and that worklessness is associated with poorer physical and mental health.
