- This is the number of working age population who are claiming out of work benefit. This is based on the average monthly number of persons in the months April to March inclusive, claiming out of work benefit.
There is strong eveidence to suggest that work is generally good for physical and mental health and wellbeing, taking into account the nature and quality of the work and its social context, and that worklessness is associated with poorer physical and mental health.
