- This is the percentage of children with a good level of development at the age of 5. A good level of development is defined as achieving 78 points across all thirteen Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) scales, including a minimum number in particular areas of learning and development. This is expressed as a percentage of pupils at the end of the academic year in which they turn 5, by pupil residency.
The highest priority in the Marmot Review was the aim to give every child the best start in life as this is crucial to reducing health inequalities across the life course. As the foundations for human development are laid in early childhood the review proposed an indicator of readiness for school to capture early years development.
The source data for this indicator was produced at Middle Super Output Area (MSOA) level for the Local Health profiles. Low level counts have been suppressed and therefore local figures will not sum up to the national figures.
