- This is the proportion of children at 31 March who are the responsibility of the local authority placed inside the local authority boundary and more than 20 miles from where they used to live. Placement locality denotes whether or not the placement is within the geographical boundary of the responsible local authority.
If a child has had 2 foster placements and 1 placement in a residential care home, they will be counted once under foster care and once under residential care.
