Percentage of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support (All schools) (2214) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the total number of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support at all schools, based on where the pupil attends school. This is expressed as a percentage of the total number of pupils in all schools.
From 2015 SEN support replaces school action and school action plus but some pupils remain with these provision types in first year of transition. SEN Support is when extra or different help is given from that provided as part of the school's usual curriculum. The class teacher and SEN Coordinator (SENCO) may receive advice or support from outside specialists.
Schools include maintained and direct grant nursery schools, maintained primary and secondary schools, city technology colleges, primary and secondary academies, free schools, special schools, pupil referral units and independent schools.
National and regional totals and total SEN across Local Authorities have been rounded to the nearest 5. There may be discrepancies between totals and the sum of constituent parts.
