- This is the percentage of population who are white and consider themselves not 'White British'. White British includes English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish. Non-white includes Irish, Gypsy/Irish Traveller, and other white origin including Roma. Researchers, local authorities, health authorities and other public and private sector organisations use the estimates to gain an up-to-date picture of the ethnic composition of local populations and to monitor diversity and anti-discrimination programmes.
