IMD - Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index (IDACI) (2010) - per cent (174) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the percentage of children aged 0 - 15 living in families that are income deprived - i.e. in receipt of income support, income based jobseeker's allowance or pension credit, or those not in receipt of these benefits but in receipt of Child Tax Credit with an equivalised income (excluding housing benefits) below 60% of the national median before housing costs. The supplementary Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index (IDACI) is a subset of the Income Deprivation Domain, and shows the proportion of children in each LSOA that live in families that are income deprived. It is not combined with the other domains into the overall Index of Multiple Deprivation as the children are already captured in the Income Deprivation Domain. The IDACI scores are published as rates, so a score of 0.24, for example, means that 24% of children aged less than 16 in that area are living in families that are income deprived. This metric displays as a percentage. The IDACI measures are calculated as the percentage of children aged 0 - 15 in each lower super output area (LSOA) living in families that are income deprived, and then can be aggregated up to show the measure at larger geographies. LG Inform provides this measure at local authority level, and LG inform Plus provides this at MLSOA-level and above.
