Population, aged 70 to 74 according to the National Immunisation Management System (NIMS) (14852) Metric type
- Help text
- This is the total resident population aged 70 to 74 according to the National Immunisation Management System (NIMS).
These estimates differ to the ONS Mid-Year Population estimates because whilst the ONS estimates are considered the most accurate estimates available at national level they are less robust at smaller areas and for particular age groups.
The NIMS dataset facilitates management of the vaccination programme at more granular levels, but is an over-count of the population as named individuals may be registered twice, or those may have left the country. NIMS also does not include the majority of the population who are not registered with a GP, including many people who are homeless, so is incomplete. Coverage can be viewed as being at least the figures presented using the NIMS denominator, with ONS providing the best official estimate.
The National Immunisation Management System (NIMS) denominators have been provided for MSOA, LTLA and Constituencies to allow users to calculate approximate vaccination uptake percentage.
