Help text
This indicator measures the rate of alcohol specific admissions per 100,000 population using Hospital Episode Statistics (HES). This indicator is based on admission episodes to hospital for alcohol specific conditions. This counts the number of times that a person has been admitted to hospital in the year with an alcohol specific condition, and not the person themselves. This uses admissions to hospital where the primary diagnosis or any of the secondary diagnoses are an alcohol-specific (wholly attributable) condition. Directly age standardised rate per 100,000 population (standardised to the European standard population).
