- This is the estimated total number of people with dementia aged 65 and over who live in the area. This includes both people registered with a formal diagnosis and people who have not been formally diagnosed. This therefore includes people otherwise 'off the books'.
The estimate is based on the characteristics of the population and the age and sex specific prevalence rates from the Cognitive Function and Ageing Study II.
